We provide reversing camera installations in Queensland. Reversing cameras are becoming standard accessories fitted to most new vehicles. Although it is very easy to have an aftermarket reversing camera installed on an older car too.
Reversing cameras can be mounted on the number plate, bumper bar or on a roof to give you complete visibility behind your vehicle through a screen on the dash, a stereo system or even a rear view mirror that switches automatically.

You can install a car or truck reversing camera in Queensland on your vehicle in different locations depending on the space you have available, the type of camera system you want to use and your budget. We are able to install cameras for reversing systems or dash cams so they can be viewed on a cabin mounted monitor on a bracket, on the roof, to replace a standard reversing mirror or as part of an integrated stereo system with LCD screen. There are so many different options available for cars, trucks, motorhomes or campervans. Some reversing camera models will also have sensors that will help detect the distance from objects as the vehicle is reversing. These will 'beep in the cabin as you get closer.

Butterfly reversing cameras are great, called that because of the butterfly wing bracket. Set them up and simply bend the camera down to the correct angle.
The ideal reversing camera for Trucks and Caravans – 12v or 24v, 120° angle, 70mm wide, 44mm high, 55mm deep. Built in mic if your screen supports sound.
We can provide custom mounts to install a camera viewing screen. Especially useful for adding a reversing camera to a truck, motorhome or campervan.
In some cases a camera can be interfaced with the vehicle's existing screen to avoid the need for extra items installed in the interior. Where possible we can accomodate this.
A newer option many people opt for is to replace their standard mirror with a combination unit that has a screen for the reversing camera built in.

We’ll explain some of the product options available and the different ways they can be installed so that you can get the right reversing camera for your needs, vehicle and available budget.
The costs will vary depending on the type of vehicle you have, the choice of reversing camera installation and how complex the wiring will be to install the camera on the rear of the vehicle.
So for example Falcon Ute might have the camera installed for the factory fitted screen, this is possible but requires a special camera to integrate into the factory system. Other vehicles like a Toyota Hi-Lux will only work with Genuine Toyota parts.
Most aftermarket reverse cameras we sell can be installed in Queensland for between $550 to $750 depending on make and model.

Quite a lot of factory fitted stereo systems have a large LCD screen that is already installed in the dash or centre console area. A lot of these can have a reversing camera added to them by connecting a camera and running the wiring from the front of the vehicle to the new camera mounted at the rear.
The cost to buy the camera kit & to perform the installation will depend on the manufacturer, vehicle model & age. If you let us know what you have we can figure out a solution for you.
This option may be more expensive than buying a new stereo head unit that is compatible with a reversing camera, but you will retain the factory fitted look and style of your vehicle.
A rear view mirror with reversing camera installer
One of the more modern options available to vehicle owners is a reversing camera that replaces your standard rear view mirror. The unit sits in the same location and has a glass mirror but also a screen that is activated when you start reversing. This can provide a wider area to view compared to a standard flat glass mirror.
The most common vehicle we install these into are trucks, 4WD’s, utes, campervans and motorhomes. The reason is because most of these vehicles don’t have rear view visibility from the mirror in the drivers area, they rely on their side mirrors. So even though legally each vehicle must have a rear view mirror not all vehicles have visibility through a window or other space to the rear of the vehicle.
You can have a small camera mounted at the rear of the vehicle which can be connected to a display screen in the dash, roof or stereo system. Although a clever solution is replacing the useless rear view mirror instead.

The most important decision you have to make once you decide to install a reversing camera is to choose where and how the screen will be mounted.
Some models will need you to have another screen mounted on the dash which might obstruct your vision while driving as well as look out of place. If you have a small vehicle it might even make the cabin feel a bit smaller, especially if you have your mobile phone mounted somewhere around the windscreen or dash.
The smartest solution is to use a Rear Vision Mirror Monitor, it’s a replacement rear vision mirror with a monitor behind the glass. As soon as you put the vehicle into reverse the screen lights up to display an image of what is behind you. It is a neat, tidy solution and also the most natural to use because everyone looks at it when driving anyway compared to looking down at a screen. There is also a ‘clip-over’ mirror monitor for those cars that the mirror cannot be replaced. This provides the same functionality but you retain the factory fitted mirror.
If you are a tradie and drive a ute or small truck then most likely the rear vision mirror is not even used because of a canopy or some kind of fixture on the back of the vehicle that blocks the vision anyway. We can supply and fit a 7” clip over mirror that can be wired to switch on with the ignition, this can provide a rear vision mirror. You can take things a step further and have this wired to work all the time while the vehicle is in motion so that you have visibility of what is happening behind the vehicle at all times.

A reversing camera can be mounted nearly anywhere on the rear of the vehicle and there are a few different options depending on what is going to blend in with the vehicle best.
Almost all cameras are a 170-degree wide angle and the cameras that we install have a very low lux value meaning they work well in low light, some of the larger cameras that we sell there are IR’s incorporated (Infra-Reds are for no light situations) so that you can always see what is behind you.
We will mount these next to the numberplate, under a boot lid lip, on the rear wall it if is a motorhome or any other location we can find that is suitable.
If you have an old reversing camera that is no longer working or you are not happy with how it functions, we can remove it for you & replace it with a modern system. We get asked to do this quite a lot because the original reversing cameras had poor quality images and limited functionality. We can even convert a dash mounted screen to be something that is integrated with your stereo system.
