Porsche Boxter sports car security & cruise control installation

The owner of this Porsche called us out to install cruise control & then upgraded with car security vehicle tracking as well

Vehicle tracking systems installed in Sydney for Porsche Boxter

The earlier model Porsche Boxter 986 series was released in 1996 and caused quite a stir in the motoring world as many criticised the manufacturer for going ‘down market’ so to speak. Although the brand was simply doing what most car companies do which is broaden their model range to appeal to more markets.

These models didn’t have too many standard features & adding things like an alarm or factory cruise control was extremely expensive as a factory fitted option. The owner of this Porsche initially asked us about fitting cruise control but ended up also choosing to get a vehicle tracking system installed.

While the Boxter has a passive immobiliser this sports car can easily be towed away and stripped for its expensive and rare parts. So the owner wanted greater peace of mind and used our mobile installation service to install the vehicle tracking as well.

We provide a mobile vehicle tracking installation service in Sydney so it meant the owner could leave the car in the garage while we worked on it. They chose to install the VT5 Tracking Device which would provide information via an app with Telstra 4G coverage.

We are able to discretely install a tracking device into a Porsche sports car so that it retains the factory look & isn’t obvious to potential thieves. Should anything happen to the vehicle it can be located quickly.

Cruise control installed in Sydney for Porsche Boxter

This Porsche Boxter didn’t have factory fitted cruise control and the owner loves taking this sports car for weekend drives. One of the best ways to enjoy a long drive in a sports car is to have cruise control when you are travelling on some of the open motorway or freeway sections so that your speed is controlled & you can concentrate more on the road.

For Porsche sports car owners there is a choice of fitting cruise control to the steering wheel, the column or the dash depending on which model you choose. The factory looking units for the steering wheel are the most expensive to buy and install but they maintain an OEM look so many owners prefer having those installed.

More recently I have used an AP500 cruise control unit with a CM22 steering wheel switch, sometimes it is possible to fit the original cruise control switch and have it interfaced to an aftermarket unit, but this is typically an expensive option because of the parts, time & labour involved, especially for late model vehicles. Over time the models available change as manufacturers of the aftermarket units make updates to suit new vehicle systems, models & steering wheel types.
